Aden + Anais
Swaddling your baby” is one of the (many) secrets to a quiet and well-rested baby and Aden + Anais has unlocked this mystery with their fantastically large and soft muslin blankets to get you one step closer to finding peace in your life again.
Aden + Anais was created by two Australian moms living in the U.S. who had a hard time finding large muslin wraps they were used to having back home. Fortunately for us, A+A took their product one step further and created a line of other baby essentials, including hooded towels, super soft washcloths, sleep sacks, and thicker blankets for the extra cold months. All of the A+A products are pre-washed and made of super-soft cotton muslin that is perfect for baby’s delicate skin, and easy for parents to wash over and over.
Why we love A+A. The swaddling blankets are large with a bit of stretch to it. This is the only one we have found thus far that truly has more than one use and is a rockstar when it comes to the necessary mastery of swaddling. The wraps are large and made of muslin with just the right amount of stretch.
How many ways can you say multi-functional? This is one of the
swaddling blankets best assets. Besides your ability to now swaddle,
you will also have the lightweight blanket to pull out for the last
minute sunshade. Since the fabric is muslin, it is very breathable and
light-weight.
Other cool Aden + Anais products we love. They also have a great line
of hooded towels and washcloths for your little one, not to mention
the lightweight sleep sacks that just came out. (Yes, we have them!).
Last but not least, they have cool designs and make great gifts. We
LOVE their designs – they are stylish and modern. If you are
searching for a baby shower gift the pack of four A&As are sure to be
a hit!

I agree. I tried slings and the Baby Bjorn before I found the Ergo and wish I had just gone for the Ergo from the beginning. My twins are almost three years old, so we don’t use them, but I would if I needed to carry them somewhere fast. When they were little, I got the hang of getting one boy on my back in the Ergo, and carrying the other boy on my hip, holding him with one arm, and carrying the diaper bag with the other arm. It was really easy compared to whatever else people do to carry twins.

Have you tried the Beco? I have heard this has one major advantage to the Ergo that is that you can transfer a sleeping baby to another adult without removing the baby. That there is something that holds the baby in other then the adult body. Just curious what others think of it.

Having the ability to easily transfer your infant to another adult is indeed a huge advantage of the Beco, but based on our research, there has been a recall of the Beco because the buckle can unexpectedly slip and cause the baby to fall. The Tulip Grove chose the Ergo based on the proven safe design of the carrier, and since most of the weight is on the hips versus the back, it is more comfortable and ergonomic. Even better, you can carry your baby until they are 40 pounds, which we find to be an incredible advantage to the Ergo!

What I loved about the Aden + Anais swaddling blankets when my son was a newborn, was their ability to keep him bundled up snuggly, while still allowing his skin to breathe. Newborns have extremely overactive sweat glands that don’t mellow out for a few months after birth. I experienced this reality nearly every night with Finn, who would sweat and sweat throughout the night. Our pediatrician instructed us not to take the blankets off of him at night, because the sweating wasn’t a sign that he was overheated, but that his glands were working overtime. I loved that there was still a way for us to swaddle, without the fear that he would be uncomfortable. Now that he is a bit older, I use the Aden + Anais sleep sacks, and find that they are the perfect combination of coziness and function. And of course, there is no match as far as their design is concerned!

We used the Aden + Anais blankets to swaddle our baby and to cover her in the sun … but now that she is 18 months old, they have become HER favorite “night night” blanket. She loves them and I think it is because they are so soft and comforting. We will be buying more soon!
p.s. Just read comments above about the Ergo – this has been a life-saver for us! We still use it, at 18 mos, and it was the ONLY thing that saved us on flights cross-country. Love love love the Ergo!
