This workshop introduces more than 40 basic signs that are based on American Sign Language (ASL). You will learn about the important benefits of signing with your baby along with all the techniques on how to teach your pre-verbal baby to sign. Fun activities and songs will show you how easy it can be to integrate simple signs into your everyday routine to jump-start your baby's verbal skills. Birth to 18 months.
Babies are welcome to attend but not required.
Erin S. Carper has spent most of her life dancing professionally. For many years she has been teaching people of all ages movement through dance, Pilates, and the Gyrotonic Expansion System®.
As a child, she was introduced to American Sign Language through an elementary school diversity program, and knew that one day she wanted to become fluent. As a parent, Erin participated in Touch Blue Sky’s Baby Sign Language Program, and was thrilled at how easily her son Jasper embraced this natural form of communication. Erin became really excited about signing, and was encouraged by Bill White to pursue studying American Sign Language. Now, Erin is a student completing her Bachelor’s Degree in Performance through the saint Mary’s College of California LEAP Program, and is entering her third year studying American Sign Language and Deaf Culture at Berkeley City College. Upon completion of her Certificate in American Sign Language Studies in 2011, she plans to pursue becoming an American Sign Language interpreter. Erin has found a new passion in sharing sign language with her friends and family and is excited to bring signing to all families in the Touch Blue Sky community.
The Tulip Grove classes are non-refundable. However, if a cancellation is necessary we require a 48 hour notification for store credit.
